About Wave Motion Studios

How it started

Wave Motion Studios was started by myself (Matt Milburn) and my good friend, Burns Thornton, in 2004. Burns and I were both from Tulsa, Oklahoma and we met in college at OSU before moving to Edmond, Oklahoma together for college. Shortly after we settled down in our apartment, we got the idea to combine my Flash and web development skills with his graphic design skills and pretty soon we were doing projects for many of our friends' bands as well as other local artists.

How it started a second time

After a year of working together, we both realized that neither of us were in the right place to truly run a business on our own. We needed time to hone our skills, get through college, and just grow up a little. Burns went on to pursue a job as a Creative Professional at the Apple Store and I got a job working at the University of Central Oklahoma where I really had a lot of opportunity to further develop my skills as a web developer and graphic designer. Wave Motion Studios wasn't completely throwing in the towel at this point. I decided to continue working on developing Wave Motion Studios by myself for the next two years.

Today

Wave Motion Studios has a brand new image, new materials, new everything. Burns is coming back and my bud Will has been brought in to offer his experience with web hosting (yes, we offer web hosting). We're getting some office space and putting together promotional materials to get our name out there. All of our ideas are finally becoming a reality.

What happens next?

The Internet changes every single day, opening up new opportunities and providing new outlets for creativity all of the time. Anything could come from this experience. We hope to one day set up a print shop to print and package all of the products that we design. DVD authoring is another item on our list. Who knows, one day you might will be playing a Wave Motion Studios video game!
